Be prepared... for fun.

Join the world's biggest youth movement.

Every year Scouting helps 400,000 young people in the UK enjoy new adventures; to experience the outdoors; interact with others, gain confidence and have the opportunity to reach their full potential. Here in Hedge End, Southampton, the 31st Itchen North (Amazon) Sea Scout Group bring that experience to local young people from the age of six to 18.

Based at the Norman Rodaway Community Hall in Heath House Lane and with sailing boats, powerboats, canoes and kayaks at Mercury Marina in Hamble, the 31st invite you to join the crew – whether you’re a young person or adult. Beavers start at six to eight years old, Cubs from eight to ten and a half, Sea Scouts from ten and a half to fourteen and a half and Explorers up to eigteen.

What do Scouts do?
Scouts take part in activities as diverse as kayaking, abseiling, expeditions overseas, photography, climbing and zorbing. As a Scout you can learn survival skills, first aid, computer programming, or even how to sail a boat. There’s something for every young person. It’s a great way to have fun, make friends, get outdoors, express your creativity and experience the wider world.

What do volunteers do?
This everyday adventure is possible thanks to our adult volunteers, who support our Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers in a wide range of roles from working directly with young people, to helping manage the Group. We help volunteers get the most out of their experiences at Scouts by providing opportunities for adventure, training, fun and friendship.
